It’s beautiful, but the amount of detailing would make it difficult for one of the dress website companies to replicate very well. They do a great job with fairly simple dresses, but this one is just so intricate that I’d be hesitant to leave it up to them! I’d check etsy since some of those dressmakers are a little more “artsy” and might could pull something like this off better than a Chinese dressmaking company.

Have you seen this Watters dress? I know it’s not “the same” but it’s similar and a lot cheaper …

I’m in love with Flora, too!!!  It is way out of range, sadly….I bet you could find one preowned in another 6-8 months!!

If I did get it though, I’d be open to renting it out…I wouldn’t want to sell it entirely:)  Is this a crazy idea? I guess depends on how many alterations are needed…

I’m in Boston.  (I am the same person as above but new username)  I just tried the dress on at Kleinfelds and it was unbelievable!!!  I was hoping I wouldn’t like it on, but it was ridiculously stunning.

@Button:

No, I wish.  They are pretty strict about not taking photos at Kleinfelds…we had our camera and my mom wanted to sneak a photo but I didn’t want to get caught:)

Anyway, I found that the dress was way more flattering on me than what I remembered from the Claire Pettibone models.  Did you see the runway clip?

They were definitely pressuring us to buy it, but it’s so expensive I wasn’t about to do that without making sure I wanted it.

It has a kind of fairy-like look, and I had a matching veil whcih looked amazing.  It is still bridal looking, (I think) because of the fit and flare shape…more so than her other dresses.  But it is definitely a statement and a work of art, not for your average bride.  I wonder if she will even sell that many of these dresses because it is so out there.  That is part of the appeal for me, that it is so unique.

I am having an outdoor wedding on the water in Maine, so the venue is good.  If you are at all interested, you would want to find a salon that carries CP and you can pay 150 to have up to 3 dresses shipped there.  (If they don’t already have the one you want, which is likely because the Flora is such a high price point)

I am a size 2-4, 5’5″.  I am not sure how the dress would work on a bigger person, but I definitely think it could.  But if I were to buy it and rent it out, the other person would have to be similar size.

I know your wedding is a year off, so I’m just speculating.  But if you do find yourself interested, send me an email: [email protected]

I recently discovered Claire Pettibone and am lusting over, well, ALL of her dreses!  They follow along exactly with how I imagine my wedding, all except the price Cry

I have been looking into replicas but in all honesty, I think one of the things that makes her dresses so wonderful are the quality of the materials (silk, etc) and i feel like a replica would look awful.  Her dresses need to be, i dont know, flowy?  And I would imagine replicas would be made from stiffer, cheap fabric that does not allow for that grace.

I think the only way to go here is wait for a used one.  However if you have the time and a few hundred dollars to spare, why not TRY the replica..?

Oh, Austin:)  I just moved from there…miss it!

The Flora is $8800 in the States…at Kleinfeld they offered a 12.5% discount, but the veils are also what made the look totally complete…and I think the veil was 1200.   Crazy.  But it IS a work of art, and a total statement, without being over the top.

Someone out there must have one they want to sell me before August!!  🙂

There are lots of other CPs on preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed.com…but this one is too recent, and I wonder if anyone who has the cash to buy it really even wants to sell it!

Pray for me!  Ha!
