I’ve had clams with linguini in arrabiata sauce. I’ve also had them in a white wine sauce but sounds like that’s not what he had. Arrabiata sauce is like a slightly spicy tomato-based sauce, you could buy it off the shelf and give it a try.

@Sigyn:  I don’t think it’s unusual to swap different types of noodles into dishes, so I wouldn’t get hung up on it. I switch noodles all the time.

I just call it spaghetti and clams (though you can use angel hair, linguine, or whatever kind of macaroni). It comes canned in either a white or red sauce (Progresso makes it along with a few other companies, usually an Italian or seafood one.) You just heat it on the stove and pour it over the cooked pasta.

Here is a recipe for a homemade version, though, if you really wanna go from scratch.
