Hi there Bees! My fiance and I are going up to Claremore, OK this weekend to look at wedding venues and I need suggestions! So far we are looking at:
Will Rogers Museum
Will Rogers Hotel
Any other places we should look at? We don’t live there, so we’re trying to do as much as possible in one weekend.
Other advice would be welcomed as well. We’ll be living in Houston, TX, but if we can save money by going this route instead of paying big-city prices, we’re all for it. Would you consider a small-town wedding far away from you if the price point was good enough?

I’m in Tulsa, which is next to Claremore. How many people and whats your budget? Ill go through my book and see what I can find.

There is more stuff in Tulsa. I went to a friend’s wedding reception at the VFW next to Cherry Street. There’s also the art museums, Have you heard of the Chapel in the Woods?
Unless you have connections in the area that’s quite a trip. There are many small towns around Houston that you could search for venues. Goodness, if you’re interested in a beach wedding, I bet there’s a lot around Galveston!

By The Way – I don’t think I mentioned this before, but I won’t need a “ceremony” location because we’re Catholic and will have that part in a church.
Probably about 125 people, and I hope not to spend very much on the venue. Honestly if I can pay less than $1000 for the venue rental, that’d be ideal, but I think I’m willing to go as high as $1500, maybe even $2000 if enough other things are included.
I did find out that Will Rogers Museum would be $600 for the day… yes… six hundred! And it’s very pretty too, both architecturally and “ooh what a nice view”-wise.
My fiance’s parents live there and they’re very dependable. I’m leaning heavily toward Claremore, because heck, I figure if I’d be paying “city” prices I might as well just have it here in Houston! (Not to say I wouldn’t mind looking if something ends up being inexpensive enough and not TOO far away from Claremore.)

For $2k, you’ll have plenty of choices. I’ll post my notes later, hopefully during lunch. Offhand I can think of more than a dozen in that price range.
I need to check out Will Rogers, $600 is a steal!

I uploaded my venue notes to Google. Some of the prices may be specific for me (75 guest wedding, on a Sat in Feb), but I think the majority are a flat rate.
Central Center: Community center owned by Tulsa Parks. Gorgeous setting, & I’ve heard of several people who had weddings there that turned out beautifully.
Columns Mansion: Found on a vacation rental site, but reviewers mentioned holding family reunions & get togethers there with approx 50-100 people. Owner said house probably wouldn’t be big enough for more than 50 indoor wedding.
Linnaeus: Teaching garden owned by the city. Gorgeous setting, & I’ve known several people who have attended weddings there.
Kennedy Mansion: Outside of your $2k budget, but you get cake, bouquets, & photographer. I think an officiant also, but I have a friend doing the honors.
White House Mansion: I want to say it’s $2k. I spoke with the owner at a bridal show, & remember it being above my budget.

Hey, it took me a while to get to reading that, but I just wanted to tell you thanks SO much for that spreadsheet! I’m going to look at them for reception venues as well as rehearsal dinner venues. Also, I have another post I want to ask your suggestions on:
