I think the type of shank depends on the ring. Mine has a plain shank and I wouldn’t want it any other way πŸ™‚

i am a simple classic solitaire girl. i like the plain band so all the attention gets lavished on the centre stone.

@Scintillante:  thanks!! he did an absolutely amazing job – its my dream ring πŸ™‚ And yes, it totally depends on the setting in the center.

Your ring is beautiful and LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of your diamond band next to the plain shank. Gorgeous!

As for me I have a seperate prong engagement ring shank. Each little diamond each has their own set of 4 prongs. I love it, but my all time favorite is the micropave diamond shank. That being said, I think your ring is absolutely gorgeous, and I also love plain shank engagement rings, it just wasn’t what I dreamed of having.

@Scintillante:  we actually have purchased this Cartier wedding band (mine is a thinner version, his the thicker one). I’m Jewish, and traditionally Jewish wedding bands are solid gold without embellishment. A diamond band will have to wait for an anniversary πŸ™‚ (although I LOVE our wedding bands – and they are even more stunning in person. And my band is very dainty, which is what I wanted). I’ll switch my engagement ring to my right hand and wear my band by itself on my left hand.

I prefer plain, but like a blingy wedding band πŸ™‚

I love my plain shank ring!  Yours is gorgeous, btw.  I’m not generally a cluster fan, but that one’s beautifully done.
