I went with clawed. With my halo I think the prongs are not noticeable, so I wanted them minimalist. No regrets!

I went with double claws. Just something I always envisioned. Despite their name, I find claws more delicate/less obvious than rounded prongs. I feel like they show off more of the center stone.

I don’t care for the bulky look of rounded prongs. I feel like my claw prongs are dainty and more secure.

Amanda Peddie :  I got rounded prongs as it’s the look I like best. It’s really just personal opinion – one isn’t any better at holding the stone in.

I do really like the look of claw prongs in the hands of jewellers like Leon Mege, and I might have opted for them had we gone down the custom route. I think they go particularly well with step cuts and cushions. However my small neat round prongs do “disappear” so I really like them too. They also never catch on my hair or anything.

I have round prongs but am switching to claw. It will be re-set on Monday. The wait is killing me. I’ll post a before and after so you can get an idea on the same stone. It’s personal preference. I don’t really notice my prongs as is. They melt in to the Diamond. I opted for claw because I really like the look and since I’m getting more prongs this time around, I want them to not be noticeable.

For this stone I went with double claws. I like clawed prongs generally better than rounded, but rounded have their place depending on the design of the ring. I think for a vintage vibe, clawed works best and I like that they aren’t super noticeable. The stone sort of floats and takes center stage. My ring below was done by David Klass. He does a fab job! The claws are dainty but secure.

Here is a before and after side-by-side comparison on the same stone. Original 3 stone has rounded and the re-set solitaire have claws. They are so delicate that although I now have two extra prongs, I can barely notice them. I feel like you see them more in pictures. It was sort of difficult to get a picture showing them as a matter of fact. Hope this helps you decide. Whatever you decide ask for delicate prongs that don’t protrude

I prefer the look of claw prongs.  Mine are so tiny, they hardly show up in pictures LOL…

If you are worried about the claws being obvious you can have them a little smaller and rounded. My setting is claw prongs but it is very subtle and doesn’t come off too obvious. I prefer claw prongs since its less metal than rounded and lets your stone show more.

I went with claw because I very much prefer the look of them and also because I feel like they protect my diamond better.
