Hi ladies – I bought a fabulous Mikaela wedding dress at a second hand store for a great deal. It has zero stains or rips, just a few minor pulls in the fabric here and there that are barely noticable. It fits me perfectly, no alterations needed! I took the dress to Brown’s but kind of balked at the price – minimum $200! I knew it was going to be expensive but I didn’t think it would be that much. I’m wondering if it is too risky to try to clean the dress at home… it is white satin, with about 8 layers of tulle and satin inside the skirt, and a bit of bead detailing on the skirt. The only dirt to speak of is on the bottom, where the train was just dragging in the dust at the second hand store :/
I know that if I have it professionally cleaned it will look good as new, basically… but I can’t help but feel like I could do just about as good a job on my own, at home! Especially since the dirt on the dress is so minor and (probably) easily removable.. it’s basically just an accumulation of dust. Thoughts?
