Hi Bees. So I just tried cleaning my new laminate flooring and I feel like it still looks dirty. I used a steam mop on the appropriate setting. I don’t have streaks, but it’s like it still looks dirty in spots. Maybe from how it was cleaned before we owned it. (It’s a new build and they had it cleaned one right before we got our keys.) Will that come out after I clean it a few more times?
Ugh. I’m having a cranky day and all I wanted were pretty clean floors.

I just swiffer/sweep and use a damp mop. The guy who installed ours said to never use a steam mop on them…

@Westwood: I’m not using a hard steam on them, the mop says it’s ok on them at the lowest setting, which is what I used.

@MrsConnick: What type of laminate do you have? Is it like Pergo or is it laminate tile? We have this textured laminate tile in our kitchen which is such a pain to clean. It’s a white tile and dirt collects in the little texture pockets and makes it look dirty really quickly. We usually need to get a mop, warm water, and soap and just spend an hour mopping away. In between major cleanings, we’ll use the wet swiffer wipes to keep things tidy. The Pergo is way easier to clean, we just run a swiffer over it and it looks fine.

I would just use an old fashioned mop and leave the steam one for tile or wood.
