I use saddle soap on a barley damp soft sponge and wipe it off after. Worked pretty well on a white purse that got stained from my jeans. You could also try looking in the auto section of a store like walmart for a leather car seat cleaner

Allyg:  probably no one wants to tell you what to use on your fancy purses and have you flip out if it doesn’t work? I mean, I usually buy purses with an eye towards being clean-friendly, like my synthetic vegan leather or duck cloth bags that just need a warm damp cloth.

my guess is there are other forums out there more specifically devoted to fashion/designer leather that would do for your question.

Allyg: I take mine back to Nordstrom and they send it back to Chloe or Balanciaga.

Allyg:  Sorry, i’ve never tried cleaning it either. I go back to LV and have them replace the handles if it looks that bad.

I’d use saddle soap. You can pick it up from feed stores or order it online.
