Random small detail that I am sure no one will care about…
We are hand writing our wedding invitation envelopes, but we will be using labels for the return addresses (on the back flap).
Our envelopes are white (like in the picture), but we don’t know if we should do white or clear labels. White is on the top/clear is on the bottom.

I should point out that I have tried for the life of me to print directly on the envelopes, but I can’t get it to work.

I got two stamps made (one that said future our last name and one that said the our last name) and honestly liked how it looked much more than stickers and takes way less time. I got them off Etsy and they weren’t expensive and now I have it forever! Otherwise I would do white if you prefer the labels!

Your guests may look at the clear window envelope and mistake your invitation for a bill or spam mail at first glance. A plain white envelope may be a better choice, In My Humble Opinion.

teeny1967 : There is no window on the envelopes; they are just plain white. We are debating on whether to use the clear or white sticker labels for the return addresses.

Is one cheaper than the other? If they cost the same, I’d say clear. Otherwise go with the cheaper

Is one paper and one plastic? Go with the most eco friendly!

Clear. The just look fancier to me.
But I am using a stamp with both our first names on it.

We did clear, but our envelopes were silver. Even with white I would try the clear and see how they look!

I would say go with whatever is cheaper!
But I used the clear because I thought they looked super nice 🙂

I would also go with the cheaper one. I think either one would look nice. We went with clear for the recipients addresses and used our printer at home and a nice cursive font for those.
We also got a stamp from amazon with our names and address on it to put our return address on the invites.

If you’re going to take the time and energy to hand write all of your addresses (which is a wonderful thing, by the way!), I would not then use a sticker for your return address labels.
You could take a few envelopes each night after work and hand write your return address on the back flap as well. Then, they would all be finished by the time you’re ready to start hand writing the addresses on the front. Or, you could purchase a blind emboss stamp or even an ink stamp with your return address, as a prior poster suggested. All of these options would look more elegant and more consistent with the fact that you’re taking the time to hand write the addresses.

I think my biggest accomplishment in planning my wedding has been figuring out how to print onto envelopes. Who knew it was so complicated!!
I would do clear.

Wedding invitations should be hand addressed or printed directly on the invite, IMO. Labels look low-class.

If you can’t get them printed directly on and 100% have to use labels, then I’d go for clear. The less apparent that they’re labels the better. Clear will give you more of an illusion of them not being there.
