I use Lancome Teint Idole Ultra and it is fabulous! I actually plan on buying either the Lancome Photogenic Lumenessence or Make Up Forever HD for my wedding day.

My fav “brand name” foundation is Smashbox HD. I don’t like a heavy make-up so I’m not a big fan of MAC.

I found that with a good primer (use Monistat chaffing gel, it’s the same ingredients as smashbox photo finish primer) my Smashbox covers & stays great!.. and feels about as light as the bare minerals I used to wear.

I prefer MAC. For photos I think MAC has more of a studio finish. It will mostly depend on how much makeup you wear. MAC has two types of liquid foundation as well as a variety of powder selections too, so it wouldn’t hurt to go get a free consult. MAC Studio Fix is what I swear by, it covers my skin flawlessly and it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a mask.

Edit: I should also mention that as a teen I had problem skin and I am just starting to have clear skin now as an adult. NARS and MAC are two of the more expensive brands that don’t make my face break out. Smashbox, Elizabeth Arden, Lancome, and Dior all give me instant break outs 🙁

I use MAC and I hate the heavy cakey feel of foundation and powder and all. Be sure to tell them that when you go and they can pick the right things for you. I use a whole slew of things in the morning and I don’t feel like I’m wearing make up at all. I’m a MAC girl for life and i’ve used everything from the drug store the clinque

I say MAC a million times over. It absolutely does not need to look heavy at all- it depends how it is applied and what colors are used. Like mrs.peters.to.be says above it has a studio finish and looks good in pictures!

Don’t use MAC foundation, it’s very chalky! I love everything else MAC! They have great pigments in their eyeshadows and lipglosses!  I’m a bit of a makeup who*re….so here are my suggestions (just one person’s opinion)

foundation: makeupforever hd (meant for photoshoots)

concealer: benefit erase paste

blush: nars orgasm or benefit dandelion (light pink — super pretty)

mascara: dior (amazing and worth the $25)

lipgloss: mac lipglass….lasts forever

eyeliner: mac gel liner (blacktrack is the black color….will last all day)

totally just my opinion…..but these are my favs! 🙂

Everything MAC except for the mascara and foundation!

Stick with Clinique foundation– I use superfit, and it’s amazing!

MAC has a more sheer foundation. I don’t know if it’s just here in Canada, but you can buy either the Studio Fix which is heavier, or the sheer one which isn’t chalky at all. Actually, I find the sheer one doesn’t give enough coverage, so I can’t see how people would find that too heavy? I guess it mostly depends on skin type and your ability to apply the foundation. Makeup is a personal thing lol.

@M.Ruder:

My exact formula – all skincare, foundation and mascara is by clinique But all my eyeshadows and lipstick are MAC.

I have tried MAC foundations, but I find they are super heavy and oily. and I ahve tried Clinque eyeshadow and lipstick but find they are not long lasting nor do they have the selection.

Therefore – USE BOTH!

Mac is expert on studio make up.  A lot of make up artists use Mac products, especially for weddings.  You can go there and do bridal make up as well.
