I took Clomid (50 mg) this cycle and according to my temps, I’m pretty sure I ovulated yesterday. Today, though, I’ve been having a moderate but annoying amount of cramping/discomfort in both of my ovaries, along with some AF-type cramping. I also noticed a tiny bit of brown spotting this evening. The pain isn’t bad – it’s like a 3 or 4 on a scale of one to ten – but it’s bad enough to be annoying. I’m also a little worried that it means I’m ovulating now instead of yesterday, which would be pretty bad timing.
Did anyone else experience pain or cramping around O time on Clomid? Is this normal or something I should call the doctor about? (I’m super paranoid about OHSS, though I’m on a low dose and don’t have any of the other symptoms, like nausea or vomiting.)

KatieBklyn: I just started taking it this month but haven’t Od yet. Ive just been reading up on the side effects and apparently O pains is one of them. No harm to get bd in just in case. I usually have O pains and annoying/irritating is the word to describe them. Mine can last up to 12 hours. If you’re concerned call your doctor.

phoebephoebo: Thanks! I hope it works for both of us this cycle. 🙂 Darling Husband suggested BD’ing last night but I was just too crampy. I have an OB-GYN appointment next week, so if they’re still bothering me, I’ll bring it up to him.

I had my first round of Clomid this month (also 50mg) and had some mild to moderate cramping around ovulation. It was only on my left side, but that could be because I only had one follicle and it was on my left side. I don’t remember if the cramps were before/during/after ovulation, so I can’t really be of help there.

I was also on my first round of clomid this month – 100mg cd4-8 and I got severe pains and cramping after I was done taking it. I think it is just a side effect of the medication. I did not O this first cycle but that doesn’t mean you won’t. Are you being monitored?

I’m not being monitored – my doctor was like, “Okay, call me when you’re pregnant!” This is my second round, and I got some cramping last time too, but it was pretty mild. I do seem to be ovulating based on BBT charting, though.

KatieBklyn: YES! I had extreme pain for a few days right before I ovulated when I took Clomid. It was so bad that I went to the doctor and he just told me I had a large follicle about to burst. I guess Clomid puts your system on overdrive. I also took 100mg instead of 50mg,
