The ring is in the house (I picked it out and was here when it got delivered – it’s not really a secret) and last weekend, he got my Dad’s blessing. My favourite holiday is Halloween and we have a yearly tradition where we spend the Saturday before Halloween at home, watching scary movies all day and having Halloween inspired foods so I’m HOPING that he’ll do something Halloween related for the proposal but seeing as we’ve planned the engagement together EXCEPT for the actual proposal, I want to leave the rest up to him and have offered no input other than “Please don’t let us be in jogging/yoga pants when it happens” (LOL – his response? “That could be difficult.” – we’re in comfy pants alot when we’re just hanging out at home!)
I keep having nightmares about the ring – did anyone else have this happen while they were waiting?? That he gives it away or that it doesn’t look anything like the one I picked out (even though I know it’s the EXACT ring I picked out) and I sit in my dream staring at this ugly toy ring wondering how I’m going to tell him I don’t really like it. And I’m not a ring girl either – I guess it’s just anxiety that’s expressing itself in my dreams.
AND my very good friends are getting engaged at the Penguins game this week (I know and have seen the ring – she doesn’t and continues to complain about how he’s NEVER going to propose – SOOO funny!) so that’s probably adding to the antsiness too.
Sigh…guess I’ll continue to (im)patiently wait and just enjoy my final weeks as a “single” woman. I know it’s on its way and I’ll keep myself busy with being excited for my friend in the interim!

My SO and I have talked about picking out the ring together, however I somehow had a nightmare about my best friends SO coming to me with a TURRIBLE ring and ask “So, what do you think? Will she love it?!” and I had no idea what to do. I thought it was seriously funny that I still managed to have an engagement ring centric nightmare despite being in a situation where I’m picking my own ring.

It really is such a ridiculous nightmare…first off, I’m not a materialistic person in my waking life so it’s really funny to see my alter-ego in my dreams be all Ringzilla. I think it may have something to do with the fact that we ordered the ring online and I have only seen photos and haven’t seen it in person – only he has. He says it’s beautiful and nicer than anything else I own (not that I own more than two rings) and that it’s really “nice and sparkly” – which has always been my only criteria “It has to be sparkly!” in selecting an engagement ring.
Maybe a bit of insecurity bubbling up too – like I said, my friend is getting engaged this week and I’ve seen her ring and maybe I’m feeling a bit of trepidation about my non-diamond ring (it’s an aquamarine surrounded by diamonds) even though it’s what I’ve always wanted. I guess I’m just getting nervous about other people thinking it’s not a “real” engagement ring, especially when compared to my friend’s diamond one. Silly, silly, silly!
I have DEFINITELY told him about my ring nightmares and he also just laughs at me and says, “Wow – you must be really worried that I’m lying to you about how nice it is!”

My ring nightmare was that it was made out of a piece of tin. It was huge and ugly. So gross. I woke up in a cold sweat. lol Anyway, everything turned out fine and I hope you get your Halloween engagement-that was the day I was proposed to. I loved it:)

I can’t remember the exact dream but yes I’ve woken up very stressed about the whole thing. My mother has even had proposal/ring nightmares she’s told me about LOL.
I’m also in a similar situation in that my SO has the ring and I’ve seen it. We don’t live together so I haven’t seen it since early August but I’m “waiting” on pins and needles like everyone else.
I’m thinking it will happen soon as I think I almost got my proposal last weekend. SO had serious “ring bulge” going on. Hopefully soon as my sleep has been suffering.

@LibbyLoo: I’m still waiting and not expecting a proposal very soon, so I can’t say that I’ve had any bad dreams about rings. . .yet, anyway!
I do recall reading posts about someone else’s ring nightmares. The person was dreaming that their ring was some strange green thing. Lol. That would freak me out, too!
And who cares what other people think about your ring? The only people it should matter to are you and your SO. I also doubt that anyone will think it’s not a “real” engagement ring. No one assumed that Princess Diana or Kate Middleton’s ring isn’t “real” because it’s a sapphire. Also, my friend used to wear an aquamarine on her e-ring finger while she was at work (to give the impression that she was married/engaged. . .she got sick of being hit on by creeps). People assumed she was married/engaged.
Don’t fret too much. Your SO has already seen it, and he hasn’t sent it back. That can only mean that he knows you’ll LOVE it! I’m sure it’s everything you’ve hoped for and more!

Glad I’m not the only person who has had this weird nightmare…
Last night, I was talking to future Fiance about how our friends are getting engaged this week and how happy I am for them and I guess I held out my hand and glanced at my ring finger (totally without thinking about it – I do stick my hands out alot to check my nails but I guess it came across as a “my poor naked ring finger” look) and he just laughed at me and said, “Patience, dear – patience!”
LOL – I’ll have to watch how often I stare at my left hand now!

@LibbyLoo: Lol. Hopefully he’ll realize that the sooner he proposes and you have the ring, the sooner your ring nightmares will be over! 🙂
