MrsB1015– As a mommy who delt with GD my last pregnancy there’s really nothing you can do to prevent it from what my doctor said. I was able to control my sugars following a strict GD diet eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day to prevent my sugar from tanking in between meals. Definitely no fruits or juices in the morning since that’s when you’re more prone to your sugar rising. If possible I would go ahead and meet with a dietician and be as proactive as you can about getting it taken care of now. I’m 16wks with baby #2 and my chances of getting GD are 2 out of 3 since I had it last time. I’ve already met with a dietician and she’s basically reprinted everything out for me again to refresh my memory. If you would like you can PM me and I can send you a sample 1 day diet plan I was given and a list of foods she gave me as well.

@MrsB1015:  I don’t know my numbers but I know my 1 hr test was “slightly elevated”. I had to take the 3 hr test and the nurse told me to eat a high carb diet for the three days before the test. She was like, “I really need you to try to eat as much bread and pasta as you can.” Um, no problem! My 3hr test results were really good. I have to take it again at 20-ish weeks though.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about it until your doctor tells you you need to start being concerned.

@bijou214:  +1

I had friends that failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hours and they definitely didn’t have GD and they gave birth to perfectly healthy babies. Until your doctor advises otherwise, I wouldn’t suggest a drastic diet change, unless of course you were entirely eating nothing but candy and ice cream for the entire pregnancy. LOL

I wouldn’t worry until you fail the 3 hr.  My 1hr was high but I passed the 3 hr with flying colors.
