Thanks bees for your helpful responses and insights. I didn’t think of it being listed lower to lure in multiple bidders, that could very well be what they’re doing. And it’s true that there may be other factors that aren’t obvious or apparent from the listing.
jackjackattck : Thanks for sharing your experience, and congrats on closing on your dream home! I will delete the real estate apps from my phone and unsubscribe from emails, thanks for the good advice. Like you said I am grateful to be a homeowner especially in SoCal.

sweatergal007 : That’s a very good point.
chocolateplease : That sounds really stressful! But I’m glad you ended up winning it. I guess I should be happy that I won’t be stuck in a potential bidding war and the possibility of not even ending up with it!

I’m curious to see what that place ends up selling for..
Side note, my husband and I close on Friday morning and I’m so excited!

rubibelle : You never know, it may end up selling close to the price of yours. Also 20K financed over 30 years (assuming that’s your term) is like $80 a month. Not a huge short term savings.
When we bought our current house, another house down the street popped up right before closing. It was virtually the same price but had 4 bedrooms instead of 3. And was off a main road so snow plows could get there quicker. I couldn’t bring myself to ask my agent to see it, but I always wondered if that was a better choice. I still drive by it from time to time. But I love our house so I just have to trust that it happened the way it was meant to.

deannamarie : I’m curious too! Congrats to your and your husband on your new home!!
Reign14 : that’s true, it doesn’t end up making a big difference on a monthly basis. And thanks for sharing your story! It’s tempting to wonder “what could’ve been,” but we have to remember that we got our homes for a reason, it was just meant to be that way. You don’t know how the other home is like or what other problems it had that’s not visible from the outside!
We got our keys yesterday and when we walked in to our new home, it just felt right. Even though it’s empty right now, I look forward to “making it ours” in the coming months and by then I know I won’t care about any other listing :). Thanks again bees for your responses!
