(Closed) Clothes Registry for Bridal Shower??

Most people (in my circle) register for a bunch of stuff and its used as the guests deem fit, which in my case is mostly for the shower.

I just got some nice lingerie pieces at my first shower and I love them, but my Future Mother-In-Law was shocked that I got them so apparently its not common in all families to get it. Be sure no one would be overly offended if you do that.

I think whoever is throwing the shower could tell a few close friends you like lingerie and you can always return it for a different size/style if need be. Can you actually register there?

This is just my personal opinion, but I think it’s kind of tacky to register for clothes because the purpose of a shower is to give you things to use with your new husband in your home, not to outfit you for the honeymoon…

just my opinion!!

You can register at VS?

I’ve never been to a shower that gave clothes (and I’ve been do a billion).

I personally would not do this. And if I saw that someone had registered for clothes I would be pretty turned off. Your registry is supposed to be for items to set up your new home/life together. Cute shorts and a tank top aren’t really something you can share or that will make a meaningful contribution to your household.

I’m not a fan of this.  But then again I’m not a fan of lingerie showers, either.  I would be extremely uncomfortable if someone bought me lingerie.  (I wear it, I just buy it myself or with my FI)

Personally, I think that bridal showers are occassions to give gifts that the couple will use together…I guess lingerie fits into that πŸ™‚

Maybe throw it out to one or two people close to you and gauge their reaction.  That should give you an answer either way.

@napabridekelsey: Yeppers! They’ll use your Macy’s and Target ones. It’s funny, we have exact opposite experiences, I’ve never been to a lingerie shower!

@napabridekelsey: That’s been my experience. Or people will give you other household items they think you might use, like homemade towels or something of that sort (generally from older relatives).

That’s what Weddingbee is for- we can bounce ideas off each other! πŸ™‚

@napabridekelsey: I wish I had had a lingerie shower. I sort of hinted around it but no one bit πŸ™  Although on the other hand, I do love home stuff, so it’s not like I was hard done by at all πŸ˜‰

It really depends on the type of shower you’re having.. it sounds like you’ve been to mostly lingerie showers.  I have no idea if you “register” for lingerie.. it was my understanding that you don’t, but I could be wrong.  I have a shower with family coming up in 5 weeks, and I think some friends will be there, too.. that shower is pretty much just a kitchen/home gift shower, where people will buy off the typical registries.

On the other hand, my Maid/Matron of Honor wants to throw me a lingerie shower, too, with a bunch of friends.. so it depends on the “theme” of the shower, I guess is a good way to put it.  The person throwing it for you would probably specifically indicate to the guests that it was a lingerie shower if that’s what they were going for.

If your Fiance is picky about lingerie, could you ask your Maid/Matron of Honor or whoever is throwing the shower for you (if it is, indeed, a lingerie shower), to spread the word & just have the ladies buy you some cute lacy underwear from VS (like their cheekies) or something similar to that? It’s not full blown lingerie, but they’re still sexy, cute, & fun, and you can wear them often!
