If it helps, I don’t like halos, solitaires, princess cuts, etc.  The point is that everyone has their own style and please don’t give some faceless women power over your life to think your engagement ring is in any way “inferior” because of what they think.  Unless you specifically solicited their opinions about your ring, they’re not talking about you or anything you have. πŸ™‚

I  don’t know why people feel like they can just say whatever they want about engagement rings.  The woman saying “just saying” didn’t need to say anything at all.  How would she feel if you insulted her ring?  I had someone call my ring obnoxious once.  Fortunately, all my coworkers jumped down her throat.  It’s ridiculous what people come up with.

OP, enjoy your beautiful ring!

I recently got engaged a couple weeks ago and I chose a cluster (composite) ring! I actually really love the vintage inspired design. I digress, your ring is gorgeous! It’s extremely sparkly, which is another aspect I love about cluster rings. πŸ™‚

Here’s a picture of my ring. Not the best quality photo, however it was the best I could do with the lighting in my living room.

Is your ring even really a cluster? It looks more like a composite ring to me, because the stones are close together creating the look of bigger stones. I’ve always though if a cluster as being more like this, where the stones are all set at different heights and stuff.

my engagement ring is also several stones set together but I think it would be described as a pave halo. I love composite and halo settings because you get the all the sparkle without all the height that comes with bigger stones.

I think we forget that rings are like any fashion item- what some like, others don’t. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a ring and though ‘I hate that’, more like ‘I wouldn’t wear that’. Thank goodness we all have different tastes and opinions! I know not everyone would wear my ring, but I really hope people don’t say that they ‘hate’ it, that’s just offensive and rude.

It’s like wedding dresses- I hate my hips so I looked for an A-line straight away and avoided anything figure hugging… but if you post a mermaid dress on here, I’m still going to tell you you look gorgeous in it. Cause YOU do. Just cause I would look bad in something, doesn’t make me hate all of you that look good!

OP- your ring is gorgeous. And your best friend chose it? Even better!
