(Closed) Cluster ring ladies: why did you choose that style?

posted 8 years ago in Rings
  • poll: Why did you choose a cluster for your engagement ring?

I wanted more coverage for a more affordable price

I wanted to give the illusion of a large solitaire without the price-tag

I think they look more unique

I prefer the sparkle of lots of smaller stones to that of one larger one

I think they have an antique look

I wanted a diamond ring and it was the only way we could afford one

The extra coverage is a bonus, but not why I wanted one

    I wish I didn't have a cluster

    I love my cluster!

I didn’t choose my own engagement ring and to be honest I probably wouldn’t necessarily have thought of a cluster ring myself. So when my now fiancé proposed it was a big surprise and I of course love my ring (see profile pic). I think clusters can be very pretty in a unique and vintage-y way like you described πŸ™‚

Scintillante:  Sure! My cluster has 7 diamonds, which I also thought was quite befitting as we were together for over 7 years when he finally proposed πŸ˜‰

Scintillante:  Perfect timing on the wedding band question, have been looking at it this weekend and I can’t make up my mind! I actually never expected to have this much sparkle on my hand, so I thought I’d go for something simple. I found this curved Tiffany & Co wedding band which sits perfectly flush with my ering.

At the moment I am having some doubts though if I want to add more to my ering as is it quite big and beautiful by itself, and the curved band in itself may not be that exciting (and I assume there will be times when I just wear the wedding band without my ering). Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, elegant and timeless. However I unexpectedly ran into this Boucheron facette ring which I is very different and unique, something I would have never thought of. I wouldn’t really be able to wear it together, but I don’t know if that’s necessarily a bad thing…..

What kind of wedding band did you get? Are you stacking or wearing them on seperate hands?

Seoulsisterny:  I do like that plain contour band! And you could always get the other original facette platinum band to wear alone when you like. I personally have multiple bands to stack when I want to wear something simpler πŸ˜‰

Since the shank of my e-ring is plain, I liked the look of a contour band with stones. I had it custom-made. I have since started stacking it with an eternity moissy ring in rose gold because I simply adore mixed metals πŸ™‚ I am loving the overall look…it’s so me!

I just knew I wanted a more vintage looking style. All the hooplah surrounding diamonds doesn’t interest me at ALL. So I saw my ring in a window when my Fiance and I were shopping for an e-ring and I knew it was the right one. πŸ˜€ It could have been glass and I would still have wanted it.

creeative1:  I have to agree with you. I’ve seen a lot of bees be mean about the styles they don’t like.

I have to to say I do love the cluster look because it’s antique looking. I think in my opinion the only cluster ring I’m not a fan of is the princess cut with the four diamonds together.  I would prefer to see round cluster diamonds than princess or cushion.

I was curious what kind of wedding bands do some of you ladies pick for your cluster rings?

Ever since the movie came out in 2004, I have been enamored with the Phantom of the Opera ring, and my fiance ended up designing mine around that (though they didn’t make it quite how he asked so he wants to get the setting changed later, and I’m certainly not complaining!).

I think they have a pretty, antique, elegantly unique look to them if done right.

I chose this cluster ring style because it looks like a snowflake, and I *love* snow!
