I really think it depends on the ring. I think some clusters can look very tacky; and I’m afraid I’m really not a fan of the one you’ve posted OP, sorry. But, I have an antique-style diamond cluster and love it. It has 7 small diamonds in a flower shape in the centre, surrounded by tiny diamonds, with small diamonds on the shoulders, set in white gold. It’s quite big, and quite ‘bling’, but not OTT, and looks very art-deco/art-nouveau.

I personally am not a fan of soliatires; even large ones are just boring for me personally, and they’re just not ‘me’. I’ve never wanted one; I’ve always wanted a cluster.

@em_panda214:  Thanks…I’m all for haveing and sharing opinions, but some of the things being said were borderline insulting…

@KatyLovesJoey:  Its called honest opinions and OP asked for them. Yes there is a tactful way of approaching the subject but if you have a cluster ring and are easily insulted then perhaps you shouldn’t take too much stock into the comments made in this particular thread.

As many of the PP have pointed out if you love your ring what else matters? I would do the same for any anti-large diamond comments….which come in abundance around here.

I like some cluster rings (like the ones LaraW posted — so gorgeous), mainly the simpler ones or the ones that are flower shaped, but I have to admit…the one that you posted isn’t really my style.

I am not a fan of cluster rings.  Occasionally though, I do see a vintage cluster ring that I like.  I would not use one as an ering, but it is your ring so get what YOU like.

I have a type of cluster ring in the shape of a flower. I see it as part vintage and part contemporary. Lots of shine and complex sparkle in different lighting. Filigree on the basket. Love it!!

Because the platinum band is plain, I find it keeps a classic look without being over the top. I don’t see other women with this design very much so it has a touch of originality like I wanted 😉 I am not the type who likes plain solitiare rings. I need some complexity to the design! Here it is with the eternity band that I’ll wear as a wedding band come this August!

I personally think that style is a little too much but that’s just me.  🙁

“Not all clusters were created equal”

Whichever bee said this hit the nail on the head. I think the smaller, round clusters that are made to resemble flowers look lovely. Colored stone clusters are lovely. Big honkin’ boxy, overly busy clusters look like well, a clusterf***! Wink

This is the third time I’ve tried to post this!  Anyway, my Grandma gave me this ring, it’s not really my style, so it kind of just sits in my safe… I might have the diamonds reset at some point

i have a cluster ring and I really love it….but having said that lots of cluster rings out there are very poorly made. i personally think  that when cluster rings are too big they just look cheap and tacky!

If you are going to use lots of little diamonds they should look like they are there to create an overall design not to pretend to be a big stone.

the one positive of a well made cluster is its ability to reflect more light because it has lots of diamonds. that what i like about my ring.

I really like cluster rings as long as they’re not too fussy (personal taste). I am not a fan of singl e diamond rings if they’re tiny and don’t think there’s anything wrong with getting more sparkle for your money – I find the classic engagement ring rather boring and conventional but then I did chose not to have an engagement ring.
