I think it looks cute in pictures, but it really makes me think “Why are they bringing a purse up to the altar?”. I mean, purses are to keep items you may need with you. They aren’t going to be reapplying lip gloss in the middle of the ceremony, so it seems kind of out of place. The bouquets are symbolic (fertility) so they at least have a bit more of a role in what’s going on.

I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and we had clutches with flowers pinned on them instead of bouquets.  It’s not a great picture, but you can get the idea.  It was a little awkward to hold the clutch at times.  But, they looked pretty and I would imagine that they would be cheaper than bouquets if you found inexpensive clutches.
