I posted this in DIY but realized its not the place to get questions answered =) soooo below is a trial run of my favors…. tile coasters decoupaged with scrapbook paper. The colors are NOT the colors of my wedding, i just figured for the practice round i would use colors that matched my apartment. Anyways, the favors will be a set of 2 coasters as shown below… (the tag is obviously a practice quick tag just to get an idea), they will eventually say something like “sharing our love from coast to coasters” (we are in los angeles and getting married in nebraska.) wow… sorry for rambling… my question is… my sister suggested having one of the coasters have a picture of the fiance and i, im just not sure i think that might be a little too cheesy even for me! I thought of maybe a custom rubber stamp with our names and the date on one of the coasters. But i also really like them plain…. please send your suggestions! and let me know what you think of the favors! =) thanks friends!!!
p.s. sorry for the bad picture quality, can’t find my camera so had to take them with my phone =(

You did a wonderful job on these 🙂
Personally, I would skip the personaliztion. Think about it this way, would you like to have someone else’s name and wedding date on something in your home, besides maybe a close friend or relative? The picture idea is nice, but I would keep that for your thank you cards. I think just the coaster without the personalization would be best.

maybe you could do something on the back of the coaster? like your names and the date? i would definitely keep the fronts as is though.

@Lee_Ann: I was just about to say this!
I would put something on the back of the coasters, so that it isn’t in your face but people can still remember who’s wedding it was which gave them the coasters.
I really like them by the way.

I would be about 300x more likely to use a coaster that didn’t have someone else’s name or face on it. But it is a nice gift either way!

I like them how they are, I personally would love to use them in my house! I think that’s what I love most about them, they are so versatile. I agree with Beluga, that I’d be less likely to use a coaster with someone else’s name and especially face on it.

I think a stamp or some other customization on the bottom would be a cute touch. They’re absolutely adorable though! Love the concept

These are a great idea! I definitely think you should stay away from using personal photos, because while I’m sure all your guests love you guys, I’m not sure if they all will appreciate having your faces underneath their drinks lol.
I think you should keep the personalization to the removable tag or maybe if you want, you could add your wedding date discreetly to the bottom or side like an artist would sign their art work.
P.S. Welcome to the boards

great job on the coasters!
I would suggest if you put a picture or stamp anything it be for the tag only. Mainly because I know as a guest if I were receiving coasters to use I wouldn’t really want to sit coasters out that has the bride and groom’s picture or name on it.

I saw these in the DIY section earlier today! I LOVE THEM!!! Keep them as they are and maybe just have a tag with your info!

My daughter made coasters one Christmas. the paper she decoupaged had words on it like”Cherish” Friend” “Celebrate”etc. The words were in a large font with a background of text in a smaller font. I love them.
I would agree with pp’s. Do not personalize the front. You could just get an indelible marker and sign and date the back.T

What did you use to coat the tiles? I like the high shine, but I’m trying to find an alternative to a sealer that I have to use 50 coats of or something like EnviroTex which requires mixing and then days to dry.
