People are just awful.  I saw that commercial and immediately thought the same thing.

Also I think Pepsi did a good job last night…they chose to air that commercial, right?  Ha.  So they were obviously trying to get more customers…!

Dh and myself just slowly looked at each other and said “Tomorrow, this is going to be controversial!”

I thought it was a beautiful commerical and accurately depicted America.

Plus, the more people that talk about it, the more people click on the ad on youtube, the more money coke makes. It really was a genius play by coke.

It’s a sad place to live when something that beautiful can cause that much hate.  Just like the Cheerio’s comercial.

I think the Coke knew what they were doing and really knew that it’s target audience was those who would think that it was beautiful.  They made a calculated decision to not give into the haters.  And I LOVE each time a company decides to do that.

@OnceUponATime:  God, the people getting mad over this are such idiots and it’s sad how uneducated they are about the founding principals of their own country. It gets me every time when people rant about immigrants. Modern America was founded as an immigrant nation, so when peple complain about immigration they’re shitting on their own ancestors! I just cannot with these people.

I loved that commercial. This is a country built on the hard work of immigrants! We are the original melting pot! Get over it GOP.

It’s funny but sad how many people think a. America the Beautiful is our national anthem and b. English is our official national language.

I thought immediately when I heard it that it’s going to cause problems. And, sure enough, one of the first things one of the secretaries in my office said this morning was that commercial was just wrong.

I don’t know if I would have even thought twice about that commercial three years ago, but moving to a different part of my state, I’ve come to realize that there are quite a few people that openly share opinions I find simply hateful.

I actually deleted a family member last night because she was ranting about this being AMERICA and we should speak AMERICAN. I’m not down with racist, bigoted people. That commercial was a beautiful nod to the ecclectic country we live in and all of the diverse families in our nation.

It is such a beautiful commercial. Love it! I can’t read the comments of people because 1) they’re (IMO) idiots and 2) it makes me crazy angry at how bigoted/racist people are. Can’t handle it!

I saw the fallout on FB before I even made the connection that the ad could have been viewed as controversial.  I was on my laptop in front of the TV and when the ad aired, I was like “Oh, it’s a Coke commercial.  Meh.”  I went back and watched it on Youtube after seeing the FB drama and thought it was a really great representation of our diverse cultures and values.  Honestly, I felt this ad was a better depiction of the true America than any of the other patriotic ads I saw that night.

@OnceUponATime:  I loved the message, LOVED the singing, but the visual part of the commercial I actually didn’t care for.
