Depends on the animal. We had two cockers growing up, not at the same time though. The first was the nicest dog ever. Seriously he was great. When he died, though, the new one we got was, well, a terror. He has a serious issue with lots of commotion around and has actually lunged at/ bitten on multiple occasions. He has gotten better with age, but even now, at age 10, if a lot of people will be coming over we leave him outsideuntileverything calms down. Just get to know your dog- I honk the second cocker’s behavior was unusually bad, but in general they tend to be highstrung.
As for medical stuff, bOth our cockers were not puppies when we got them but peeiNg was occasionally an issue if they were alone for longer than usual. They both really likes having a crate as their own safe place. Oh, and ear infections can be a real issue so really try to be on top ofcleansing out their ears. They really are adorable dogs thoug, and the best part is they really don’t shed at all.
Oh goodness, did you guys do research prior?

Some great puppy books (that is if you got a puppy!)
The Art of Raising a Puppy (Revised Edition) by Monks of New Skete
Mother Knows Best: The Natural Way to Train Your Dog by Carol Lea Benjamin
Before and After Getting Your Puppy: The Positive Approach to Raising a Happy, Healthy, and Well-Behaved Dog by Ian Dunbar
yes we did research but there is nothing specific everytime i tell someone we got one they say “ohhhhhh the pee” wtf!
Submissive peeing is their issue. It’s not hard to train out of them. http://pets.webmd.com/dogs/submissive-urination
