We are having 3 stations in addition to passed hor d’ouevres during cocktail hour. We have decided on 2 stations & need help picking out the third station. During the reception, guests will have a salad for the appetizer & a choice of steak or fish for entrees. Our wedding is in Manhattan. The two stations we have already picked are:
Cheese & Charcuterie
– An incredible selection of artisanal cheese from Europe & North America
– A fine selection of charcuterie including salamis, besaola, chorizo & serrano ham
– Crudites with hummus, artichoke dip, & blue cheese dip
– Shrimp cocktail
– Raw bar with oytsers & little neck clams
– Pan seared scallops & poached new zealand mussels
– Red snapper ceviche
Which would you prefer for the third station?
Mini Bites of New York
– Miniature hamburgers & cheeseburgers
– Newspaper cones of crisp french fries
– Mini reubens
– Chopstick Suey (stir-fry in chinese take-out boxes)
– Individual mac & cheese cupcakes
– Mini chicken pot pies
– Stacked bamboo steamers filled with dumplings & dim sum
– Spicy papaya salad
– Satay grill with chicken, beef, & mushrooms
– Pyramid of sushi

@CityBearBride: I chose Mini Bites of New York. I’m a pretty picky eater though and not a huge fan of the stuff listed in the Pan-Asia. I don’t know if most people are as picky as I am, but I also don’t like sea food so I guess it depends on how picky you think your guests will be. I think pretty much everyone will like the Mini Bites of New York where as not everyone likes sea food or asian food (or like I said I’m just really picky ).

Agreed with MrsBeck. A lot of people won’t like seafood, especially raw options, so including the New York bites that has comfort food will offer more choices for pickier eaters. Plus it sounds like you get a lot more choices with that option.
everything sounds awesome to me though! Very jealous you are having a raw bar!

I would love the ny station!! Not only does it offer more options, they sound easier to eat and more kid friendly!

Sliders! Your other 2 choices are fairly “fancy”, so a more casual option might be a good mix for those who don’t like seafood or fancy cheeses. All sounds yummy though, can I come?!

Wow, I would take Pan Asia any day. It sounds so much healthier and like less heartburn and grease. But I am pregnant, so I guess I gravitate towards nutrition! I am just surprised by the poll. Healthy yummy food vs. hamburgers? At a lovely wedding? Maybe that’s just me!

@CityBearBride: I personally think the mini bites from New York. I myself would like the Asian one better, but if you have any picky eaters, they would head straight for New York. A word on caution on the sea food: hopefully you don’t have guests allergic to shell fish. I know I know you are probably thinking why would someone who is allergic eat it? But, I found out this summer at a wedding that I am in fact allergic to shell fish after eating a single bacon wrapped scallop. Never knew I was and about ten minutes after I ate it, my face turned purple and my stomach was on fire! Luckily we were staying on the property where the wedding was held because I was sick the rest of the night. What I am trying to say I guess, is don’t invite people like me, to your wedding.

Although I love the Pan-Asian station more I would go with Mini Bites only bc not every guest loves seafood so mini bites is something (almost) everyone is sure to love.

Our wedding is black tie optional, and it will be fancy and we will only have 3 guests under 21 (all teenagers), so I feel a little weird about serving such ‘casual’ food in the Bites of NY station. I know the Pan Asia station does have more seafood with the sushi, but it does have chicken & beef skewers and veggie & pork dumplings, so not all seafood!
i also think its interesting that a lot of posters would prefer the Asian but voted for the bites of NY because they think more people would like it!

I am a picky eater, so I unsurprisingly would choose (and freaking love!) the NY station =)

I agree with the majority of posters — the Bites of NY station — even though I personally would love the other as well. All of your other food is elegant and high brow — the Bites of NY station will provide a welcome alternative for those whose tastes may skew toward more common fare.

I feel like the NY one is too heavy and too casual! Pan Asian all the way.

@Baimee: +1 ! Asia, Asia, ASIA! And by the way, holy sh!t I’m HUNGRY now! This food sounds amazing!!

Mmm this post is making me hungry lol.
I voted for the NY station. My friend had this type of station at her wedding and it went over VERY well–and it was a black-tie wedding. I loved it, and I would totally choose that if it were offered for my wedding. And if I were coming to your wedding, I’d go straight for and linger by that station (although the meat/cheese station sounds tasty too). I wouldn’t worry about it being too “casual” as the other two stations sound fancier, and I’d imagine the other food being served will be fancy as well.
ETA: I think the NY station will add an element of fun. Also, it’s not like they’re serving a double cheeseburger or chicken nuggets–the way they’re serving it sounds like an upscale version of comfort food.
