Some of those girls on Four Weddings are so mean, and because I’m into this huge planning ordeal I cannot stop watchng it!! They always knock on the food, and with being on a low budget, I’m not spending tons on the food. However, I wanted to do something fun during my cocktail hour. If you don’t know, I’m having a fifties theme wedding and I thought it would be so fun to have popcorn! It’s not the only food that will be served but it’s a little fun something to add! My popcrn machine arrived yesterday and I could not be happier!!! So bees, is popcorn lame/cheesey?? or is it toally fun?

I think popcorn is fun. But I think it would be better as a late night snack rather then at cocktail hour. Go for it!

I wouldn’t eat it at a wedding reception. Too messy, especially if you have cheese toppings, flavorings, etc. I don’t want my hands getting all salty and greasy!
It’s not tacky (good lord, that word is hideously overused on this site). Just not practical for me.

I agree with PP about late night snack vs cocktail hour…however, I still think it’s a fun idea. 🙂

We were actually going to have it for cocktail hour and being it back after dinner. SO thought everyone would use it for a late night snack as well

I love it! And the popcorn maker is pretty cool.

I voted for, “It’s always fun!” We’re renting an old vintage popcorn cart and popping it after dinner (more like a late night snack). It won’t be “really late night” as I wanted it to be done while my Fiance and I are greeting tables (that always seems to be the most boring part of the reception while guests sit around waiting on the bride/groom to finish saying hi to everyone–IMO). Our menus are actually being printed on brown kraft bags (picture below) with a note at the bottom telling guests to use this bag for a late night snack at the popcorn cart.
I personally think it’s super fun. Now, if I were getting married in a grand ballroom, black tie, SUUUUPER formal…. ehh, it might not fit so well…..but that’s not our wedding. Our wedding isn’t “casual” but it’s not super formal. It’s fits perfect with our Colorado mountain vibe. But in all honesty, who cares if it doesn’t “fit”. IT’S POPCORN! =)
Example of our popcorn/menu bag: (sorry it’s huge)

I think it’s a great idea!
