Costco has some good platters (veggies, fruit, cookies, etc) that could give some good variety.  Are you planning on serving beverages as well?

It would be cheaper if you bought the cheese, crackers and fruit in bulk yourself and made your own trays, especially if you have someone helping you

I went with fruits, veggies, and meat and cheeses. It was fairly inexpensive and people were definately happy with it.

@bells:  Yeah thats what we did. We bought in bulk and bought trays from Party City for super cheap. Really saved a lot of $$

What style is your wedding (like the decor)? I bought really pretty silver and glass vintage looking trays and bowls from thrift shops for around $.50-$1.00/each, and I plan to replate cheese, crackers, fruit, etc into those for cocktail hour. I feel like it makes laid back foods slightly more fancy without spending extra money on “fancier” foods.

I already posted this idea on another thread, but you could display n/a drinks like this:

IMO, presentation is everything 🙂

If you wanted something besides cheese, veggies, etc, you could also get a bunch of little frozen appetizers from Sam’s Club or Costco.  Just thaw those out the day before and set them up on trays as well.

Not sure where you live, but we have Wegmans in my area which is a God send. They have awesome platters, including sushi trays, for a great price. And they are always fresh and delicious. I swear they don’t pay me to say that, though they should!
