My plan is to have instrumental ceremony music AND cocktail hour with a slight difference in tone between the two. The ceremony will be more churchy… sappy…. If I’m lucky, I’m going to hire a string band.

The cocktail hour will be instrumental as well, but more upbeat and a complilation of popular songs everyone knows and the reception will be a variation of party music!

I think having words in music ALL day will just be too much

I’d go with instrumentals. There’s really no wrong answer here, both would be fine, but I think instrumental is nice.

It’s your choice, but it seems that it would be a cost savings to have instrumental. Very few (if any) will be paying attention.

I’m going for light jazz during dinner (not having cocktail hour)

I have hired a string band for my ceremony and cocktail hour. Music during cocktail hour will be a mix of classics and modern music. I can’t wait!

Our DJ will be playing songs with vocals, just on the softer side, but I think it all depends on the style of your wedding and the atmosphere you want to create. That said, since you’re doing an iPod DJ and will probably want music you can set and forget, instrumental sounds like the easiest course for you.

We will have a pianist for our cocktail hour

Most likely doing soft vocal songs with a mix of instrumental for our cocktail hour! We want it to have a lively vibe so we think it’ll add some spunk that way.
