During our “cocktail hour” we’re actually serving real hot chocolate, spiced apple cider, la tire sur la neige (maple taffy on snow) and s’mores (there is a fire outside for people to roast marshmallows on). It’s food, but it’s also an activity in a way.

Maybe just offer a neat non-alcoholic punch and regular old soda? Maybe there are some party games they could play?

I agree! Or some lemonade and easy appetizers. You won’t want to let your guests stand around parched!

cheese and crackers, fruit, etc.   Something to munch on.

Don’t worry about games.  The guests will be mingling and enjoying themselves.

At my first wedding we had a non-alcoholic punch, sodas  etc because my FI’s family did not drink. Punches don’t have to be sickly sweet.

We had passes apps the same as you would in a cocktail hour.

Finger foods and beverages should be fine you could serve Ice tea, lemonade, maybe some alcohol free punches, tea coffee, water.

Bruschetta and antipasto trays would stay with your Italian food, while staying affordable!

You can do a juice/soda bar like this.

Or maybe a DIY italian soda station (soda water plus flavored syrups), so people can make their own puch (kind of an activity).

We’re setting some fun board games on cocktail tables during our cocktail hour, so people have things to do while they’re waiting for us.

We’re also planning to have a fruit tray, veggie tray, and cheese/cracker tray for people to munch on.

HTH!

Maybe you could do a signature “drink” with something fizzy like club soda, seltzer or sparkling apple cider
