My fiance and I are getting married next October in Downer’s Grove. We chose the clubhouse in his parents neighborhood where we can have a beautiful outdoor ceremony if weather permits and a great indoor space. The best part is the rental is only $175 a night. Sorry Bees, they only rent to members of the neighborhood.
NOW I need to plan the food! We are on a tight budget. We are hoping to do food and alcohol for 120 for 5k or less. Maybe 4k would be ideal including rentals and staffing. I know it wont be easy and will take some creativity.
My ideas are to have a cocktail reception with heavy hors douvres (SP?) wine, beer and champagine and a wedding cake. Or to have a brunch reception but at night: a Brinner wedding! or just say forget it and order a ton of pizzas and beers (okay, just kidding on the last part!) Although the process of finding this is making me nutty!
Has anyone had a cocktail reception? How did you let your guests know? Were the out of town guests disappointed? Can someone recoemmend a caterer for this?
