We are seriously considering having a cocktail style wedding reception this spring or summer. We *love* appetizers, and dining in my husband’s culture will often consist of “mezze” (small plates) as an entire dinner. We also like the idea of grouped seating, lounge areas, mingling, dancing, and of course, cocktails. 🙂
We do want, though, to provide *ample* seating. We are aware of the drawbacks of a cocktail style wedding (ie. not enough seating, people balancing plates, silverware, drinks, bag, etc. — we’ll have a “coatroom” if we go with the venue we’re considering, more on venue below) and want to avoid any difficulty for our guests by having seating for almost everyone (including the elderly).
I am having trouble, though, envisioning how this will actually play out in our space. We are considering a loft-style building in Queens, NYC, Attic Studios.
Here are some lounge style photos I’ve pulled:
This is the “general feel” that we’re going for (dreamy!):
Anybody have cocktail party inspiration to share that would help me wrap my mind around cocktail party seating?
