Our DJ is only playing for the dance, we are responsible for our own dinner music. They have a CD player with iPod hookup that will play over their system.
We want a festive party type atmosphere, so no slow jazz or classical music. But, I want to try to keep it somewhat classy at the same time.
Song/artist suggestions? I am open to some Christmas music, given our wedding date, but no tacky or super obvious stuff.

I’m not sure what type of music you like. If you like happy sounding music, I would suggest some Jason Mraz, Train, Maroon 5 or maybe other pop music like that. You could also do some older music like Frank Sinatra for people who may appreciate that era. I personally think music should reflect the tastes of the bride and groom.

I’m not sure what overall style of music you’re looking for, but I would recommend looking into the Vitamin String Quartet. They do string covers of lots of artists, so you can get ‘classy’ versions of upbeat songs.

Our cocktail hour was all Beatles love songs! Granted I didn’t get to partake in my cocktail hour- but if I was a guest I would have loved it!

I could go for more “classic rock” type of music, only because I think the songs are fun but not so much hip/hop. Try using pandora.com to make some random personalized radio stations to get some inspiration!
