The first thing I thought was, if you had some pale pink tissue paper, what you made actually looks like a lotus flower. Lotus flowers are a symbol of good fortune, perserverence and enlightenment. Very gorgeous and appropriate for a wedding!

I don’t think they look that bad!  Agreed they don’t look much like roses, but they do look like lotus flowers.  Plus, they always seemed really hard to make to me so kudos to you for doing that well!

@Wannabe-diy-bride:  Definitely give it a shot!  I have ZERO patience and I somehow managed to pull it off.  Here’s a pic from the ones I tried following the bee’s tutorial….please excuse the messy counter.  I was totally consumed by the dang roses and didn’t both to clean up as I was working. lol

Thanks girls!  I wish I knew what bee it was that did the tutorial, but she rocks!

@Wannabe-diy-bride:  Did you happen to paint your petals?  I couldn’t tell from the pic if you did or not…I will say that painting them does add alot of texture to it!  If you are going with a white rose, I would even just add a little bit of white paint to some water just to give it the authentic texture.  Also, the tutorial that I included eliminates some of the steps that the Martha Stewart one has.  I think MS added 3 more petal shapes, which seemed to be a bit overkill and harder.  From your picture, I would say you did a great job on the first try!

I find using the floral tape to be a bit difficult if you’re not used to using it. What I’ve been doing is using a hot glue gun to secure all the petals and then add the floral tape to hide the ends of the petals once the flower is complete.
