Anyone who gets these know what I must be going through. We are 6 days until the wedding and I woke up today with a small one. I have been taking my oral medication but forgot to yesterday. Does anyone out there have any fast proven remedies? I am trying the ice, warm compresses, abreva etc. Any help I will take. Thanks in advance!

I feel your pain…I am also prone to these. Do you take lysine? I take it orally..but also you can crack the capsules open and put the powder inside the capsule directly on the sore.
You can buy these at GNC or any type of vitamin store.
Good luck!

Zovirax cream, prescribtion only ( not sure why since it’s over the counter in Europe which is where I get it every time we travel). Valtrex pills, also prescribtion only. Doesn’t prevent once you have it, but makes it go away faster in my experience. Lots of vitamin B & E.

Thanks everyone! Have the valtrex and was taking it before. Luckily it hasn’t gotten too big but going to see if the doctor will give me a topical one tomorrow as well.

as soon as I get one I take about 3000 miligrams of lysine tablets. Yes its a lot but I swear it shortens the healing process. It seems no matter what you do those things always pop up in the worst time. I recently started taking 1 tablet every day and as person who gets them at least once a month has not had one in about 5 months since I started. Good luck and I feel your pain!

Dont freak out you can fix it in time!!! My doc prescribed oral medication and a topical cream – I swear it works miracles – The oral is acyclovir and the cream is zovirex. (the cream looks white but it will go on clear and just keep putting it on as much as you can) Another trick I use is colored shiny lip gloss on the rest of my lips it sort of helps make it less noticible or at least blend. Hope this helps you!

Contact your physician so you can get treated stat. Next, concentrate on de-stressing because these pop up when the body is very stressed out. Get plenty of zzz, rest up, and try to ease up on the anxiety somehow (get a massage, go to day spa, mani/pedi).
Also get some of the special makeup dermablend in case it isn’t gone. That stuff can cover anything up and consult a makeup artist for their input.
