@soontobemrsm11:  nose cold sores suck!!! I get them on the outside and inside ๐Ÿ™ I put the CVS brand of abreva on it (the cvs brand works better for me I found). I dont take any pills like huser. I only get them a few times a year. but they are awful. I actually have scars on my nose from them ๐Ÿ™ they form around my nostrils. is that where yours is?

I’ve had an unusual coldsore appear on my neck once before, it was really odd and to begin with the nurses thought it could havee been shingles. Nothing that some super-strong aciclovir cream (10%) couldn’t sort out though. I haven’t had one on my lip for a long time now though (touch wood!)

@MrsTillerResq:  I saw you said prescription, I didn’t know they even had a prescription, I’m going to ask my doctor  next time I go. Do they help a lot?? I try to catch them when I feel them coming on but for some reason I haven’t quite gotten a pattern down yet, I usually catch them on my lip and start putting the abreva (walgreens equivalent) on immediately but it still takes at LEAST a week to go away =/ This one was on the outside & inside both but more on the outside of my nose. I seriously hope this isn’t a pattern, I get enough with them just on my lip!

@bestbuddies:  Mine is right around my nostril & a tiny bit inside, yep. I have absolutely no clue what could have caused this one…usually I get them on my lip & I’ve found that many times, it’s from consuming too much OJ. If I’m getting sick I down a half gallon of OJ in 1 day & it ALWAYS gets rid of whatever I was starting to come down with but then I end up with a freaking cold sore for 1-2 weeks =(

@MrsTillerResq:  this can totally happen. I have a spot between my eyes where mine used to flare. The virus follows the nerve & can pop up anywhere along that nerve. The thing that stinks is that now you will be prone to repeats in that spot. I am careful about popping zits anywhere along that nerve!

@soontobemrsm11:  mine always come when I have a cold or sinus infection. maybe it is related to extra vitamin C????? I had never thought of it! I always assumed it had something to do with my immune system being down or whatever

@bestbuddies:  I have no idea for you but I notice I’ll get them not only if I’m getting sick & drink OJ but if I have too many mimosas lol That’d probably be a good way to test it for you! Idk if it’s the acid from OJ (though if it was. I would think other juices would cause them too…) or the vitamin C. I have been meaning to test it out by substituting Vitamin C pills for OJ when I’m getting sick but I haven’t gotten around to it. At least you know what happens for me so maybe you can figure out if you’re the same way =)

I had that same situation a few years ago. The doctor even put me on valtrex for it to go away. When that didn’t work and it continued to spread I went to a different doctor and was diagnosed with staph infection. Apparently when I popped the pimple I didn’t wash my hands first and I had the staph on my hands and it entered my skin. New meds cleared it quickly after having it for 3 weeks.
