My wedding is THIS Saturday (so only four days away) and I just got the dreaded tingle today!!
I have been megadosing lysine for weeks (5 g a day) and I started Valtrex preventatively yesterday, I use a lysine lip balm and abreva but it’s still tingling! What else can I try? It would be devastating to have one the day of, mine are always the same and they are right in the middle of my lip and huge.

Abreva ALWAYS works for me! I start putting on the spot where I start to feel it ASAP…usually I don’t even ever get an actual coldsore anymore.

You can also try drinking lemon tea, using Peppermint, mint, and witch hazel oil… make sure you keep your lips moisturized also

beevincent18 : Thanks, hopefully it works for me too! It’s still just been tingling… so if it wants to remain a tingle and not erupt I guess that’s fine… *stresses*

The biggest key for me if I do get a cold sore is making sure my lips stay moisturized. They always go away faster if I don’t let my lips dry out. Not sure if there’s any science behind that, but I’ve been getting them on and off for over 10 years and it works for me!
I’ve heard you can get used to abreva and it stops working. Which terrifies me! UGH!

The tingle is getting much stronger but it hasn’t surfaced yet. I upped my valtrex to 2g 2x a day but I feel like it’s inevitable, I’m completely losing my mind. 🙁 🙁

nearlyscottish : Ice! I’ve stopped at least two just by holding an ice cube to it.

Put raw unfiltered honey on it. It works for me and there have been studies that honey has antiviral effects on the herpes virus.

Start mega dosing on the L-Lysine asap!
When I get the tingle I take two lysine, three times daily, and it is AMAZING. Good luck!

My wedding is on Friday and I started getting that tingle on saturday! I put ice on it and then used abreva, and I take lysine 1000mg twice a day and it never blistered. Good luck!

macpartyoftwo : yeah I’ve been taking 4-5g a day for a week now. It still hasn’t erupted but the tingling is still fierce. Trying to think positive thoughts but it’s not going great. 😭
