Colleague identified my moissanite ring as non-diamond and told others!

dw4518 :  If a coworker came up to me and said “Shoshanna’s engagement ring is a moissanite, not a diamond, and I know because…” I would probably fall asleep mid sentence from sheer boredom.

This is going to be an office distraction for five minutes and then people will stop giving a fuck when the next pathetic crumb of someone’s personal information crops up. Shrug your shoulders and move on, it’s not your job to give your coworkers a gemology refresher.

dw4518 :  Probably a good reminder to not go around showing people your ring. If they ask, sure, but gathering groups of people to gawk at your ring is weird.

… who would do that? Young guy or not, that’s incredibly rude!

I see what some PP’s are saying. I didn’t announce my engagement at work — what’s the point? I think asking to inspect the ring by someone who is not close to you is tacky too.

He is super rude.  Normal humans don’t go around trying to make others feel bad, just remember that.  😉  And it looks gorgeous on.  But yes, I think this is a great reminder of why we should just be honest about our stones and love things for what they are.
