I picked Business because it had the least amount of papers assigned. I’m not even kidding. At the age of 18, the last thing I should have been doing is going to college. But my mom basically told me that I either went to college or she was going to die from a nervous breakdown BECAUSE HER ONLY DAUGHTER WOULD SHAME THE FAMILY BY BEING UNEDUCATED. lol. I love my family.

I was in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing… if I could redo it, I either would have done fine art or advertising.  I only chose marketing because my parents suggested it, but I ended up sticking with it all 4 years.. ended up getting a job in business but not marketing, but now I *am* in a marketing position and I love it!  But.. probably still would’ve done fine art or advertising if I could redo 🙂

I majored in psychology and was decided on that since about a junior in high school. I am now 3 years out of college and dont regret it one bit. I am working in the field (sorta) as a case manager with homeless individuals with mental illness and love it! The only thing I regret is not going immediately into grad school :/

I majored in Journalism and knew my entire life that’s what I wanted to do…now, I’m going back for Business Administration because my boss asked me to.

My sister, on the other hand, had her major picked out for her by my mom.  She wanted to go for music history (which my dad quickly vetoed) and my mom decided she’d go from Speech Pathology b/c a friend’s daughter had majored in it and got a great job right out of college….my sister owes my mom a ton for picking out that major.

I didn’t grow up thinking, “Ah yes, I want to be a nurse when I grow up” but it kind of happened. Lol. My mom majored in nursing but never finished so my whole life, it seemed as if she wanted to live her dream through me! Lol. Needless to say, it kind of happened last minute! I majored in nursing and I absolutely loved it!!!! I was good at it, loved learning about it, and have been a nurse now for 5 years and just got a master’s degree in nursing. Good luck! My first 2 years of college, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do yet either!

I majored in Psychology. It was sort of the “path of least resistance” as there were a lot of things I knew I DIDN’T want to major in — haha. I don’t regret it because it is very applicable to a lot of people-centered fields. I, too, am working as a Case Manager (although I work with adults with disabilities) and would not have my job were it not for my degree. I am starting graduate school for School Counseling this fall. If I could redue it I would probably be an education major. It just makes more sense to me to major in something that has an inevitable career.

I chose business because I figured it would be easiest to get a job in.  I decided on accounting when I took my first accounting class and really enjoyed it, then added a second major (finance) when I realized how easy it was and how I only had to add a few classes to double major and I could sit for the CPA exam as soon as I graduated.  Of course, now I’m thinking of going to grad school for my MBA and not doing anything accounting related.  Oh, and I haven’t graduated yet.  I still have one semester left with a major I don’t want to pursue.  Oh well.

I was originally going to do english or philosophy… lol.

I majored in Psychology, but that wasn’t my original plan. I initially went in for secondary education with a math focus (I wanted to teach high school calculus) but then I took a couple of psych classes and loved them, so I just went full force into that. I LOVED school and looked forward to going to class every day, but I kind of regret it now, because I’m not working in my field and if I was I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills… but at least I have a degree! Probably going back to school at some point.

My college cancelled my original major about a month before I was due to start and it was too late to change schools.  So I picked something else I could live with.  Great school.

I majored in Human Biology with a concentration in Psychology.  In high school, I was dead set on aerospace engineering, but my senior year of high school I switched my goal to medical school.

Even though I have considerable student loans, I don’t regret my degree one bit. I learned so much (both inside and outside the classroom) that it was truly an invaluable experience.

I picked fine arts because it was the only thing I could see myself doing at the time.  Also I loved it.  After a few years of living like a starving artist and not really feeling like I am getting anywhere, or even want to get anywhere futhering my career I decided to go back to school for early childhood education.  I decided I really love working with kids and can use all the creative juices inside of me to help children learn.

Ever since 7ty grade I thought I wanted to be an architect… And then searching for schools, I discovered Landscape Architecture. Although i loved my major and went to one of the top schools in the country for it, the market is NOT there and so far where I am physically in life and where my Fiance and I want to be… Its not really working out. But… Not sure what else I would have done!

I started college as Undecided Engineering. Sophomore year I settled on Civil Engineering.

When I was choosing a major, I knew was interested in engineering and I figured it would be easier to transfer out if I didn’t like it, than to transfer in from a major with different pre-reqs.
