Hi all! This is my first official post here. After a sleepless night spent debating between two shades of teal, I figured it was time to reach out for help. I’m planning on having my girls wear teal dresses, but am torn between two shades at David’s Bridal.
Originally, I wanted Oasis (it is brighter, more genuine teal), but I saw some pictures of Oasis used in actual weddings (not the pictures on the DB website) and now find it’s a little brighter than what I actually wanted. I’m now leaning toward Peacock. It is a similar hue, but much darker. I just think it looks nicer in photos and closer to what I want. I want a nice shade of teal that is not too bright–I’m not a fan of very bright colors. However, I worry Peacock is a little too dark.
SO, to sum up, which color do you like best? AND if you’ve seen either of these colors used in real weddings, I would greatly appreciate the real feedback!
The first picture is in Oasis, second in Peacock.

I personally like Peacock better, but what really matters is what you like and what look you’re going for. Do you have any other colors that will need to coordinate with the dresses?

If you don’t like bright colors, I would go with peacock. I think it’ll be somewhat brighter in person, and you can always dress it up with the bouquets, to make it appear brighter if need be.

@Gemstone Our other colors are a pale green (very similar to the WeddingBee green) and a coral. The flowers will be white/coral with green accents. I think the coral would really pop against the Peacock, but maybe compete with the Oasis. I really do think I like Peacock more the more I look at full-dress pictures. Before I was looking at tiny swatches, which can be misleading. Colors change when they’re a whole dress!
@Jenilynevette Very true! We are planning to have brighter flowers, so I think I’d really like them to stand out!

Peacock is more formal, classic, elegant, and timeless. I’d use the bright teal as an accent color in the decor. But I wouldn’t make anyone wear it. That’s just my opinion though. Do what you want!
Also, I think coral flowers would really pop next to the peacock dresses. Here’s a similar color palette for comparison:

I agree that the first color is too bright. It’s almost neon!
I’m also biased because I’m having navy blue bridesmaids!

@Christy42213 I agree! It is more formal and elegant, and after picking out my dress this weekend, I think that’s the feel I need to work for with the rest of the wedding. I love that picture too! I think the coral will work great with the Peacock! Also, great idea to still work in the brighter teal in decor!! Thanks!
@mrsztobee That was my thought about the first color too! It looks really pretty as a tiny swatch, but once you see it as a whole dress, it is much brighter! Love navy–what other colors are you doing with it?

Ooh, I’m voting for Peacock only because that’s what I chose for my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses 😛 My colors are pink and teal and I find that the darker teal works better with all the shades of pink in my flowers and decor.

I like the peacock and the coral flowers will look great together. your getting married the day before my birthday.

@fzesquer My thoughts exactly! Thanks!
@vandhauq2011 What a coincidence! And thanks! 🙂

I love Oasis. I wanted my wedding dress in Oasis to match my blue diamond engagement ring, but it didn’t come in that color. Peacock looks pretty dark in pictures (A friend used that color) so keep in mind the lighting in your venues. In the end, go with whatever makes you happy!

@ABosForPandora: I did go with Peacock, but only because the DB I went to didn’t have ANY dresses in Oasis. I was just too nervous to choose Oasis without seeing it on a whole dress. I am working in lots of Oasis accents though, so it won’t all be the dark color.

Fiance wanted teal, so we are using Oasis. After going to get swatches, looking at the colors on dresses at DB and the corresponding vest/ties at Men’s Wearhouse, Oasis is more of a true teal.
The Oasis vests/ties at Men’s Wearhouse actually appear a little darker than the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses because of the difference in materials.
Peacock just looks too dark green for a teal, it’s more like an emerald color…IMO. 🙂
Oasis is actually a pretty dark color in person, it’s not at all what it looks like on the DB website…

@MissCountryGirl727: I really wish I could have seen it in store then! I did see the little swatches. From the swatches, I hated Peacock, loved Oasis, but I liked Peacock a LOT when I saw it on a full dress. I wish I could have seen Oasis on a full dress in person. 🙁 Oh well, it’s done now and my girls all got the dresses they wanted since Peacock is available in more styles. One less thing to stress about haha.
