I’m having a really hard time figuring out colors for my wedding. I am having a July wedding in California, so it will be a typical summer wedding. I’m planning on having the majority of the reception in the evening and going into night with lots of pretty lighting (string lights, paper light fixtures, etc).
Any color ideas?
Thanks bees 🙂

I think peacock colors are quite beautiful and perfect for California! Deep purples, teals and blues!

@FutureMrsMcDermott: Is your wedding style going to be more formal/elegant or informal and vintage-y? What kind of feeling are you going for?

@napabridekelsey: I’m not completely sure yet, but i think a fine balance between elegant/classy and relaxed. I either want a summery wedding or a night/elegant wedding. Color suggestions for either theme would be great! Or theme/vibe suggestions even!

Well, I’m doing something similar!
I’m doing a lounge set up with padded benches and cocktail rounds…really swanky but still vintage looking. I’ll have chandeliers in the trees, and cafe lights strung from the house into the trees. So it’ll be really twinkly and romantic. My colors are lilac blush cream and light green…So you could always go with muted tones and pastels, or you could go with bright colors!
Have you been on Stylemepretty.com yet? They have the most amazing inspirations on there!
Good luck 🙂

I would go with a rustic elegance vibe. For the season and location I would chose a color palette consisting of Ivory, Latte, Apple Green, Chocolate Brown and Deep Plum. The colors are versatile enough to be appropriate and fun for the Summer, but also exude elegance given the richer tones and would be perfect for an evening wedding. Picture long, rectangular tables with ivory linens and burlap runners, ivory candles in dark wood holders of varied heights surrounded by string lights and flowers with coordinating colors and textures in regards to the palette.
I’m not exactly sure if that is the route you would like to go down, but I think it would be beyond lovely! If you need help finding pictures for inspiration, feel free to ask. Best of luck to you and happy planning!

We had an August evening wedding in NY. I wanted a pretty & romantic – but modern & crafty – feel, to reflect us more, so I used lots of candles, with peacock feathers & paper cranes – with feathers & paper in vases from IKEA for safety.
That worked well to let the candlelight really bounce off of the iridescent paper & peacock feathers, yet still prevent fire 🙂
We like subtler colors, so I used peacock feathers and metallic copper paper cranes for my wedding decor. My wedding colors were essentially peacock blues and copper.
Varied size glittery ivory & copper paper cranes worked well as hanging decoration from the ceiling, with some tulle. In your case, something like origami could hang from strung lights.
I was considering varied-size round paper lanterns for a long time, I’ve seen that done before and it’s gorgeous for a summer evening wedding. It looked like an amazing modern, romantic sculpture sort of thing hung above the dance floor.
Best of luck with everything & congrats! 🙂
