Our wedding colors are purple, dark grey (charcoal), and light/gray silver. All of the guys, groom included, will be in light gray tuxes. The groomsmen will be in purple vests and ties and the dads will be in light gray vests and ties that match the tuxes.
Everything I see has the groom in a lighter vest, like white or ivory. However, I am not crazy about ivory with gray tuxes and my dress is ivory, so I did not want a white vest. Fiance chose a dark charcoal vest and now I am having second thoughts, thinking that it will look weird. I really wanted him in the light gray that matches the tux, but he did not like it and wanted the charcoal.
Thoughts? Will it look weird if he is in a dark vest???? Am I overthinking this?

i think you might be overthinking it a little bit. i think the dark vest will look great! my fiance is wearing something TOTALLY different than his groomsmen. like, crazy different. but, it was what HE wanted and what he felt comfortable in.
we got to pick our dress with our men’s advice…. we should let them do the same! they want to feel good too!
i think the dark vest will look fine and it will seperate him from the rest of the guys.

We are color twins!! The guys (including my husband) are in black tuxes. My dress is ivory but we were just at a wedding where the guys were wearing ivory shirts and I just didnt care for it. Theyre in white shirts with black vests. Groomsmen have dark purple ties and my husband will be wearing a dark grey tie. My Bridesmaid or Best Man are in dark grey and the jr BM’s are in dark purple. Hes kinda iffy about the Groomsmen and Bridesmaid or Best Man not matching but I wanted my husband in grey not purple, and it matches my grey flats and grey pearl bracelet. I honestly dont think anyone will critic it or even notice besides me. I think you will be just fine!

You have gotten some great advice. If you wanted to change it up a little bit… one option you can do is change the dads into a darker charcol grey and have your groom in a light or platinum silver. I would say stay away from putting Ivory on him with a grey tuxedo but I think it will be fine in pictures while he is standing next to you.
The Mens Wearhouse offers a “Build a Tux” option on their site so you can kinda play with some options and colors to see if you like it.
What I would reccomend is put the groomsmen in the darker purple to match your bridesmaids (Lapis from MW) Your groom would be in a platinum silver and the fathers in the charcol grey. Play around and see what color combinations you like best.
