I read about this a lot. My dress is ivory also. Some people said that the ivory shirt looked dirty. I think I’m having him wear a white shirt with ivory vest and tie.

This is an ongoing discussion on WB.  Some go with white, some go with ivory.  The ivory shirts are a darker ivory so be sure you see one in person at the tux shop and decide from there.  I’ve seen pics with white shirt/ivory dress and pics with ivory shirt/ivory dress and they both look great.  It’s just a personal preference.

My dress is a darker ivory so we’re going with ivory shirts for the guys.

I don’t know… I’m having a similar problem, as my dress is chapmagne colored satin underneath ivory lace. I’m thinking white shouldn’t be that bad. I’m afraid the Ivory shirt would look dingey.

I think it really depends what kind of tie/vest you put with it. I’m hoping my Fiance will wear a white shirt with an ivory tie and vest, probably the one below from Moores. That will work with my dress as it’s ivory. But if he decides to go with black or something I will have no idea what to do for the shirt!

It’s personal preference. I wore an ivory dress and hubby had a white shirt. It’s really hard to tell a color difference in the photos.

I had an ivory dress and he wore a white shirt. Ivory shirts look dirty when they are next to black, gray, blue, etc.

Honestly, I’d say to choose whatever you want… or whatever is convenient. My Fiance used a dress shirt that he had for at least 2 years already. I’m pretty sure it was stark white, while my dress was more ivory. But nobody noticed or cared. Same thing for the Groomsmen, they all just wore white dress shirts they already had. They all seemed to match to me!

I say it depends on the suit. Gray suit and ivory shirt? No. Brown/Khaski suit and ivory shirt? Yes Black suit and ivory shirt? Depends on how dark the ivory is and what else is worn with it?–white flowers? white shirt! Silver accents? White shirt! Yellow/cream/blush/gold accents? soft ivory

We are doing a charcoal tux with a light ivory shirt.  I agree with some of the other posters that some of the ivory shirts that tuxes come with can be a very dark and “dirty” looking ivory.  Our tux place had a light ivory that looked really nice with the grey tux.

My dress is ivory, so I didn’t want him to have a white shirt – especially for the pictures.

BUT – as another poster said – no one will likely even notice what colour shirts your guys wear! lol

My dress is diamond white and the guy at Mens Warehouse told my fiance he shoudl get an Ivory shirt. He stasted that Diamond White photographs as an Ivory color and him in a white shirt would make my dress look dingy…
