I bought my dress two weeks ago (woohoo!), but I am having serious trouble coming up with a color scheme for the wedding because the dress is an atypical color – it’s ‘almond.’ Really, it looks more taupe-ish, but since I’m having a Spring wedding, I want to include colors. Does anyone have a suggestion?
I was thinking of incorporating pussy willow into the mix, but what else??

Warm pastels. Pinks or lavenders would look nice. And a little brown.

Oranges or yellows would really add a pop of color! They’re also popular colors for a spring wedding.

A fresh green, like an avocado or Granny Smith apple. It would go great with the taupe, deep dark brown and the greyish-white of the willow. Or you could do bursts of orange.

thats gorgeous. LOVE the pusy willows idea. Check snippet & ink for some ideas. try searching greey, gray, charcoal, etc, and it will bring up a multitude of boards. But I agree with the above poster with the pastels. although, Id shy away from brown, it might look too fall with a taupe dress

Taupe is still very neutral you can go with what ever you want!
But I really like jocelyns idea of lavenders!

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions! I love the idea of soft pastels. I just want to be sure the colors convey Spring and not Winter. You all had wonderful ideas! I will surely be perusing Snippet & Ink today…

Both of the ladies above have great ideas – for the romance I think I’d pull in some dusty rose and perhaps some lavenders. Keep the colors muted, yet warm. Play around with some colors, ya know? Pick up some paint chips or check out some websites that let you create color combos like: http://colorcombos.com/combotester.html
Or you can really play around with your dress (or one like it if the site doesn’t have your specific dress at http://www.polyvore.com/

I love the idea of dusty rose, and how about that silvery purple. That’s a really pretty color to add romance.

love the silvery purple idea, maybe with a silvery green (like lambs ear leaves?).. your dress is absolutely gorgeous. And I love the pussy wilow branch idea… added it to my list of inspiration!

Love the dress! I think you can use any color combination you’d like.

I’m doing a ton of “gray &” wedding invites this spring. Popular combinations include gray with whites and bright greens/hydrangea green or gray with pale yellows and white. I really like the idea of the pussy willow too, but would still watch on how to lighten everything up when tying it all together.

What about a nice plum color? It would look SO GOOD with that color. I know it’s not exactly “Spring”, but years later when you look back at the photos you wont think about whether that color was “in season” – you probably won’t even think about what season it was, but how everything looked. When I think of a champagney color like that I think deep purple, green or navy.
PS: Congrats on your engagement catybarb! Fancy seeing you here!

AHH!! Chutzpah! It truly is a small world!! Thank you so much for the congrats! I hope you’re doing well!
I’ll definitely consider the plum color….maybe mixed in with some muted pinks… Thanks for the suggestion!

Something to really pop against the dress would be lovely. Yellow, orange or teal are some of my favourite colours though so I’m biased.
