@MckBrack:  Sorry, I’ve lived here my entire life…I couldn’t tell you one way or another…I’ve lived through Indian Summers, where September and October blazed 70 and 80 degree temperatures, had others where winter hauled it’s big, cold, white ass into the state and parked it…Telluride is up in the hills though, I would prepare for a chilly fall wedding….you getting married at Dunton Hot Springs?

@Nona99:  Yep…I agree.  The only thing you can count on with Colorado weather is that it is so unpredictable.  Just to give you an idea, this Monday it was a glorious 71 degrees.  On Tuesday, the very next day, we had a high of 16.  Granted, I’ve never seen that kind of wild weather swing in September.  Like Nona99 said, prefare for a chilly fall wedding, but keep in mind it could be blazing hot.

@MckBrack:  I, too, am having a destination wedding in Colorado around the same time of year as you (August)!

It just so happens my Fiance and I were in Telluride in 2011 in September and this first picture is of Telluride from the gondola. Second picture is taken from the golf course in Mountain Village.

The snow is usually melted around July in Colorado on the mountain tops so definitely no snow on the ground. That is NOT snow on the mountains in the backdrop, although it kinda looks like it; there are just no trees on the top of the mountains there because it is above timberline.

I was wearing shorts, dresses, and tank tops during this September trip. I can’t remember what the temps were exactly. It was partly cloudy to full cloudy most of the days we were there and I think I recall it sprinkling very lightly one late afternoon, but the weather was PERRRRRFECT!!!! They had some film festival going on while we were there in September so if you do a September wedding, pick your date carefully because rooms will book up super fast!

And can I just add how jealous I am that you are having a wedding in Telluride?! ACK! I was drooling over the idea of having Telluride wedding at Gorrono Ranch with that GORGEOUS, TO DIE FOR view at the San Sofia Overlook, but sadly, Telluride was just waaaaaaaaay too expensive. We are having our wedding in Breckenridge.

Yeah in Colorado you should hope for the best and prepare for the worst.  You really don’t konw what the weather will be like until like 2 weeks before the day and even then it could change.  It SHOULD be nice, but who knows!?!?!?!
