It’s a beautiful dress and sounds like a lovely idea. It’s your wedding. Do what you want!

You go! if you want a colored dress and to have your maids in white then do it! White dresses are a new trend and really only dominant in the Anglo-centric west. Do what makes you happy! You’ll look gorgeous in that dress!

I’m not having a white dress, I’m currently leaning towards a pale blue and putting the bridesmaids in a darker blue or purple.

I think a gold dress with bridesmaids in white will look lovely and sophisticated. It’s hard to pair another colour with gold I think, so white will go really well

I think it will be very chic and striking!

And I’m wearing a metallic bronze/gold – think Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra!  (It’s gold but I usually describe it as bronze because “bridal gold” is practically ivory.)   So excited abut how it’s going to photograph.

I think you should wear the gold dress and put the bridesmaids in any color you want.  White isn’t tacky, though I wouldn’t choose it.  I don’t like white on pretty much anyone, though, so that’s probably a me thing.

I once attended a wedding where the bride’s dress was silver and varying shades of grey. She invited all the married women who were guests to come in their own previously worn wedding gowns if they wished ” to air them out and show them off again”. Several actually did and they loved doing it. (Obviously no one came veiled with a bouquet they just wore their gowns). The bride was really happy they took her up on her offer, so if she can have guests wearing not only white but their wedding gowns I see no reason your bridesmaids can’t wear any colour you want them to. It was a wonderful relaxed and happy wedding with some amazing pictures!

Beautiful dress! Sounds like your fiancés brother has some real issues! So don’t listen to anything he says.

rosegoldlover :

Wear absolutely what you want.

“Tacky” ( horrible word) does not enter into it, even supposing your fi’s brother to be  head designer at Givenchy , which  I venture  to guess  he is not .

Seeing your battery percentage go lower and lower with each screen shot was making my nervous.

I think the gold will look amazing, especially with the venue and the bridesmaids in white.

Both my dress and the bridal party (considering I only have 2) will be in ivory, loads of peopls told me it is weird but I think its beautiful!

Its your day, make it how you want it, plus the gold is STUNNING against the white!

If were to get remarried, I would be like you (in my 30s with kids), and I would probably do something similiar to what you’re thinking. Dress with color, no veil, bridesmaids in off white or champagne. Equiette says second time brides can wear white (and veils!), but personally I would feel silly.

It is totally fine for you to wear a colored wedding dress and have bridesmaids in white!

Absolutely do not take the advice of fiances brother, is he a stylist? I don’t think so. Ignore anyone who uses the word tacky to your face about this. He has a hell of a nerve criticizing anything you want to do that isn’t truly horrendous.
