@PeachPineapple: Before I read your post, I was going to suggest blush but I totally understand your BM’s concern about skin tone. Too bad though! That being said, I think the color in your dress is, as you asked, subtle enough that a deep purple would still look great!
@PeachPineapple: I think floor-length chiffon flowy dresses in soft pastel colors would look gorgeous with your dress. And honestly, I think it would look incredible if your BMs wore different colors. My BMs wore 3 different colors – blush, sage green, and gray – and I loved how it turned out – it looked really natural and a little different from the typical matchy-matchy wedding parties.
As for overall color palette, spend some time on the website The Perfect Palette – there are so.many.ideas there!
Since you like soft muted colors, one idea is an ivory/gold/blush/mint palette –
P.S. Your dress is amazinggg!!! Love it!
how about navy blue or chocolate brown ?
@Mrs. Wallaby: I’ve also been confused about the “matchy-matchy” thing but the picture you posted is absolutely beautiful. I think I will use different colors for the bridesmaid’s (especially because my girls are so different)! That way we can determine what they feel the best in so they will have the best time. I also love the mint/gold/ivory. It’s stunning! It’s very romantic & fairy tale. Thanks again! I have a huge test next Thursday- you probably shouldn’t have told me about the Perfect Palette website! I’m about to spend all my time there for the next few days.
PS: Thanks for the dress compliment! I’m so excited.
PPS: I’m also a Texas gal!
@cettina: Thank you for the picture! My fiance really wants a black tux- so I think navy & brown will clash with it. My girlfriend is getting married in August and her man is wearing a beige suit. Her wedding is shades of brown & yellow- it’s going to be gorgeous!
How about champagne colored? It would go well and still be very elegant. Him Hjelm has a beautiful color called Shimmer.
Also, at the end of the day you have to pick what you like. It’s a little ridiculous for someone to say blush doesn’t look good on them and they won’t wear it.
I agree – I thinka dark purple would look fine. I don’t think it would clash – it’s not mixing tones and I am pretty sure I have been wearing pink and purple together since I was two monthes old – lol
@PeachPineapple: What about grey? It looks beautiful paired with blush!
You would go with light or dark whichever you prefer. I love blush thou and think that would be fabulous with your dress…..blush usually loosk great on everyone….hate to hear your 1 Bridesmaid or Best Man is giving you a hard time about wearing it…..
As far as style wise since your BMs are all different sizes, I’d say maybe something flowy…..maybe chiffon. I’d stay away from satin b/c it is less flattering.
