If that’s what you want, go for it. I don’t think it’s that much of a hard and fast rule, and you can do it in a way that’s springier

@melissa_deranieri: this is so funny, cause i was in this same situation…i couldnt decide if i wanted red, cream and black for my spring 2012 wedding. I found that if done just right it could be very springy, like red tulips etc. this combo is timeless i think, it looks good no matter the season, its very romantic as well!

I think you can use any color, any time – it’s all in the execution. Here’s one inspiration board that looks “springy” to me – I like the use of delicate patterns with birds and flowers:

This one adds just a touch of green (and not a lot of black) and also looks good for spring:

And this one I think is elegant, romantic and “seasonless” – the lacy pattern lightens up the black:

I agree with the PP’s it’s all about how you choose to execute your wedding. I love that combo of colors as well!

@melissa_deranieri: Im going to go with the cream, it softens it up a bit, and makes it a little different from the normal white.

@melissa_deranieri: I’m pretty sure they are classic colors so they are fine in the spring!
