@laken.oliver:  My theme is vintage-y and I’m doing a deep red, black and gold or silver. Haven’t decided on the silver or gold, but I’m leaning more towards gold.

@laken.oliver:  Seeing as Fiance and I are doing a vintage/1920s-inspired wedding, this is something I’ve given a bit of thought to.  I’m also not crazy about the black/silver thing–reminds me of my college boyfriend’s fraternity, lol.

We’ve decided to go with the more neutral/muted scheme of cream/gold/champagne/green.  The green will be either a jade or a mint tone.  We’re pretty set on the cream/gold/champagne part, but the “color pop” color is, and probably will continue to be, a discussion until we settle on the girls’ dresses.  We’ve thought about tossing in a dusty purple/wisteria or a blush tone intead of the green.

We’re trying to bring in the vintage inspiration through decor other than color — like peacock centerpieces for half of our tables and vintage books for the other half.  We’re doing an art deco wedding poster, lots of candles, and maybe buying a gramophone for effect 🙂  That way we’re not depending on color to get our point across.

@laken.oliver:  I like the soft, faded pastel look for the twenties. It would look great with champagne table linens.

@laken.oliver:  Here’s a great articles with some ideas: http://glamourdaze.com/2010/05/1920s-fashion-womens-dress-and-style.html  http://fashion.just-the-swing.com/1920s-womens-fashion  http://voices.yahoo.com/2008-womens-spring-fashion-meets-1920s-color-trends-683142.html?cat=46

I keep reading red and burgundy.  Black, gold, and red would look awesome.

@laken.oliver:  We’re having the same theme and doing emerald and navy.  Do classic, rich colours, I think.

@laken.oliver: I like the soft colors pp has listed but if you are wanting darker colors to use your purple go with jewel tones
