Okay so this is my dilemma. SO loves blue I love purple. I wanted to have my colors purple and black. Between lavender and plum to be more specific. but SO thinks he is getting ripped off cause its his wedding too. I understand but shouldn’t it be my day or is this being selfish. could I do a combo. Some girls wear purple some wear blue they stand so it’s one after the other…. Purple blue purple blue etc. I have an even number 6 and the guys could do the same with thier vest and tie? So confused 🙁 But I don’t want a rainbow wedding. If that was the case I would let my girls wear dresses they already have

I don’t see why you can’t incorporate all wedding colors!
Something like this possibly? I think you could do both purple and blue and work it into your wedding that way you both get your colors….they look really pretty together!

You can incorporate both your colors in ways other than the bridemaid dresses.
plum and navy
plum, powder blue and grey
flowers on the tables
the groom could wear a blue shirt with a purple tie
or a white shirt with a blue and purple tie

i think these two colours look great together.

We are doing plum, navy and ivory as our colours.
To answer your question “ I understand but shouldn’t it be my day or is this being selfish.”
It’s both of your day, you AND your Fiance, so the day should reflect both of you. He is completely right that it’s his wedding too so he should get a say in the colours. Either have each of you pick 1 colour and find shades of those colours that work well together, or pick one colour together that you both love.

We are doing those colors as well!! Purple, Cobalt Blue, and Ivory. 🙂
Initially, I wanted it to be pastel colors, but I realized that we should stick with the colors that we both love, and reflect us as well.
This day is for the both of you. and Purple and Blue DO look good together. Utilizing colors from the same color family and incoporating those into tiny details will work and you will both have your favorite colors well represented. Good Luck!

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
I always loved the colors Navy Blue and Lavender together.

I think you can definitely incorporate both together. The pallettes above look great. I think I would stick to one color for bridesmaids dresses/tuxes though.

It is not YOUR day it is YOUR day and HIS day. I would combine both colors into your pallete, which doesn’t mean you have to have your bridesmaides altering. They could wear purple dresses, and the groomsmen could wear blue ties or vests. There are always ways to compromise if you are willing!

This is exactly, to a T, our wedding colors. We’re doing navy and plums, with touches of purple. The above palettes look beautiful, and the color combos really compliment each other well. Can’t go wrong, in my opinion 🙂

our colors are blue purple and silver- but dull blue and light purple
if you do dark blue or bright blue- fine but don’t get picky about shades- I hate it and its been ruined so far.

Thanks for all the advice. We are going with groomsmen in blue vest with blue ties and blue and purple boutonnière maybe like the ones above in pic. Bridesmaids in purple dresses with purple and blue flowers. Deco incorporate both colors we just need to decide on how far we are going with the color palette. Possible bouquet for me
