@Roots17:  Any color combination you choose will inevitably be the colors for some professional sports team in America – we have a lot of them here. Ignore those comments and choose your wedding colors based on what you like best. Red, white, and blue are lovely, as are emerald and yellow. You can’t go wrong with either combination. Good luck!

@Roots17:  nope not to dark in my opinion, they are colours that hug you! you can just use less of the dark blue to brighten it up a bit or add silver perhaps.

Somebody on the Bee is having a peacock theme, try searching it for ideas. If i could change my colour scheme this is exactly what i would choose

@Roots17:  Peacock is very pretty, but (1) it seems more fall to me and (2) is getting a little too trendy. Just my opinion; you might find that it works well for you. Jewel tones are flattering on most skin tones, which would be great for your bridesmaids.

@Roots17:  I think you could do it in a way that doesn’t look too patriotic. My suggestion: choose either royal blue or red as your main color, and have the other as an accent color. Since your bridesmaids will be wearing royal blue, I would keep their bouquets mostly white with accents of red. Because you are wearing white/ivory, you can carry a bouquet that has more red in it if you would like. If possible, try not to pair all three colors together. But generally, as long as you avoid things like stars, gingham, and sparklers, it won’t look too 4th of July.

(Swap out the pink for red below.)

As for your ivory/white concern, I’ve seen plenty of brides in ivory with grooms in white shirts. It doesn’t look odd, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m considering the same thing…but I have the opposite reason:  I am from the UK my fiance is from USA.  The fact our flags have the same colours is great and makes for a fun theme.  I am also weary of not making it too cheesy though. The reception will be kept very plain – ivory linens and candles, with red roses.   The only blue of the day will be the bridesmaids dresses.  I’m still trying to decide whether the bridesmaid’s flowers should be white or red. Good luck!  If I go with red-white-blue for myself then I’ll try to remember to post pictures as that will be in March.
