Sakari87:  I wouldn’t be too thrilled about a red dress if I were a Bridesmaid or Best Man. It’s a hard color for many women to wear. I would do it without complaining, but red makes my skin look like an alcoholic.

I think navy dresses would look great- not too patriotic, but definitely naurtical.

What about doing navy, white and gold? You could still have your red roses. You don’t have to limit everything to 3 colors only.

I have a thing about red bridesmaids dresses…I’m not sure why but I just am not a fan. I do however like deeper reds – like red wine etc etc and think that can look really classy! I think a bit of a nautical tilt to the colour scheme would be nice seeing as your venue is at a yacht club so a navy, white and red wine colour scheme with accents of gold could work well. Or even have a coral colour instead of the red wine? I love navy and coral together and for a summerish wedding it would be lovely.

For what it’s worth I don’t think most people will associate red, white and blue with Australian patriotism at your wedding. Admittedly those are the colours of the flag but I tend to think more of gold and green when I think of ‘Australian sporting colours’ etc.

I think I recall that Kimmysumshuga had a navy, white and gold wedding. See if you can find her recaps or send her a PM.

Could you go cream, red, gold? Lots of warmth?

I’m loving the idea of navy! Very nautical and classy!
