    @linnylou_88:  Thanks!  🙂

    Hopefully this will sway the OP over to the colored gem side 😉

    If you see a certain gemstone it it stops you dead in your track and you think about it days later, I’d say you’d be safe to love one enough as an engagement ring.

    Most people go with colored diamond or sapphire because they come in a large variety of colors and are very durable for everyday wear. There’s also another stone that less popular called spinel which can come in fantastic colors, is very durable and much cheaper since it doesn’t carry the demand of the other two.

    Aquamarine and Morganite are great options too! Just keep in mind though that these stones are softer compared to the others. Some people wear them with absolutely no problems, others ding, chip, crack and wear them to hell and back till the facets are all but gone. So it just depends. If you’re more clumsy, work with your hands a lot or prone to being rough on jewelry I’d recommend colored diamond, sapphire or spinel.

    Best of luck on your hunt! I myself want a lavender sapphire engagement so bad! But SO is more traditional and has a few hierloom diamonds he can choose from so my purple dream will have to wait as a bday or anniversary gift in the ambiguous future. If you choose a colored stone, I can live vicariously through you! XD

    I’m obsessed with my yellow diamond. Colored stones are becoming more widely accepted, Tiffany’s is known for their yellow diamonds! Anyway, what matters is what YOU like! I hinted that I liked yellow diamonds to my Fiance and at first he was hesitant. But he said that when he saw it in person, they really do look like royalty 🙂
